After they completed the 3.1-mile race, participants cheered on family and friends as they crossed the finish line. At 48:44, the crowd erupted in applause as Sarah Schultz, 7, and her brother, Davie, 6, ran over the finish line.

“I’m tired,” Sarah said as she gulped water after the race.

The children’s father, Dan Schultz, said Sarah has participated in close to 10 5K races and Davie has crossed the finish line in approximately five races.
“It’s a good atmosphere for the kids,” Dan Schultz said of races such as the Tour de Cape 5K. “It gets you off the couch.”

All participants finished the 5K Walk/Run within an hour.
