Paint the Cape, an artists' competition held in conjunction with the Cape Coral Festival of the Arts, announces an extended deadline of Oct. 15 for artists to submit applications for the multi-day "en plein air" artistic competition and art exhibition. Held in conjunction with the Cape Coral Festival of the Arts, from Jan. 3-10, the project is a partnership of the Cape Coral Festival of the Arts, The Alliance for the Arts, Realmark Development, LLC and the Harbour View Gallery LLC. Proceeds from the event benefit the Cape Coral Community Foundation, a 501C(3), nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting the public well-being and to improving the quality of life in the greater Cape Coral community.
There are two events in which artists can participate: the plein air competition and the "Quick Draw" paint out. Artists selected for the Plein Air competition can win cash. First place is $750; second place is $500 and third place is $250.
The preview reception and artists' awards ceremony are Jan. 8 and will be catered by Rumrunners Restaurant in the Pavilion at the Marina at Cape Harbour.
Artwork remains on display and for sale at the Pavilion throughout the weekend.

Wine Styles is hosting a tasting of premium wines Jan. 9.
The weeklong festivities culminate Jan. 10 with the "Quick Draw" paint out and auction at the Cape Harbour Expo Island. Students receive a special registration fee for the "Quick Draw" paint out.
Other sponsors and contributors to Paint the Cape include Cape Coral Art and Frame, Happenings Magazine, What's Up Cape Coral and the Harbour View Gallery LLC.
