Many wore hats. Some tried clotted cream for the first time.
All of the women who attended the inaugural high tea at Cape Harbour got a taste of the English pastime, complete with scones, petit fours and cucumber sandwiches.
"I think it's really adorable," Clare Candelori said. "This is perfect."
Candelori sported a black-and-white theme for the afternoon and wore a hat to complete her outfit.
Like many of the women who turned out for the tea, which was hosted by Divine Diva's owners Linda Heidenreich and Linda Hoffman, Candelore wanted to spend an afternoon with other women and get a look at some of the new fashions available at Divine Diva's.
"They've got such unique designs," she said.
Heidenreich, who is from Great Britain, was the most familiar with the makings of a proper English tea.
"We wanted everyone to experience the tradition of high tea," she said.
High tea is offered in late afternoon and typically consists of finger sandwiches, scones, sweets and, of course, tea. Hoffman and Heidenreich thought the event, which they held in the Cape Harbour center court, was a way for women to see the latest British fashions in a low-key environment. They recruited models from nearby stores and donned outfits from the Divine Diva's line for participants to see.

Carolyn Warner, who drove from Fort Myers with six of her friends, thought the clothes were interesting.
"They're really cute," she said.
Warner said she had been to several high teas in the past, on cruise ships and in Europe. The American version held pretty true to the original concept, she said.
"It's very good," she said.
Warner sampled all of the food and said she planned her day around the event.
"I went light on lunch and this will be dinner," she said.
Divine Diva's plans to continue the teas and is already taking reservations for future events.
