$593,593 contract approved for second Chiquita Boat Lock

Cape Coral City Council approved a $593,593 contract with PCL Civil Constructors Inc. to provide construction management services for the construction of a parallel lock at the Chiquita Boat Lock. One lock already exists. The lock separates the city’s south spreader canal from the Caloosahatchee River. The demand for service is increasing as southwest Cape Coral continues to grow. The city is waiting for a permit to be issued by the state’s Department of Environmental Protection before construction can start.
